Providence was recently invited to attend AMP Capitals weekly asset allocation meeting chaired by Shane Oliver. A team of over 15 individuals across various asset classes and economic research attended. It was a great opportunity for us to witness how these meetings are run and gain insights into their current thinking.
Without compromising their intellectual property there was a 66 page chart pack running through valuation scores of various assets along with charts of various indicators.
There is some concern shared by Providence regarding the potential for liquidity mismatch within fixed income markets. Although they sight long term structural issues facing Australia, the short term indicators are positive.
We appreciated this opportunity to get an inside view of AMP Capitals strong process and gleaned some investment insights to their current thinking.
